Geronimo Valley Lions Celebrate 50 Years

SAN GERONIMO VALLEY -- The San Geronimo Valley Lions Club proudly celebrates its 50th Anniversary. In January of 1958 thirteen gentlemen established the SGV Lions Club. Over the past 50 years the Club has developed many long-standing relationships with local groups to enrich the San Geronimo Valley and the world. The SGV Lions Club now has 64 members and has helped a tremendous amount of needy groups and people in the San Geronimo Valley community and globally.
In 2007 they awarded the San Geronimo Gym project $10,000 (the largest gift ever given by the Club). Donations have been given to SGV Community Center, SGV Emergency Fund, The Food Bank, Music Savers, Valley Toys & Joys, LEAP, West Marin Senior Services, along with many local scholarships and awards. Globally it has given to the Lions Eye Foundation, Katrina Victims, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Lions Canine Companions for Independence and other global and needy charities. At each meeting they require the membership bring a can of food to donate to the local Food Bank.

Besides donations, they volunteer man hours by hosting two annual Blood Drives, collect eyeglasses for Recycle for Sight to give eyeglasses to needy people globally, they help with SGV Valley Clean-Up, and donate hours to Christmas in April to help local needy people.

For the past few decades, they have held an annual crab feed the first Saturday in February, which generates most of their funds to give to charities. 5 pm tickets are still available for Saturday, February 2nd Crab Feed, call 415-488-4862.
