Stinson Beach and Bolinas Volunteers Receive The Frank Wells Award.

The Briones Lions Club is proud to announce the recipients of this year's first annual Frank Wells Award.
The recipients of the Frank Wells Award are selected from the people of Stinson Beach and Bolinas whose efforts benefit others, without expectation of recognition or reward, who emulate the selfless character, devotion to good works and high principles of Mr. Wells, and who conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with the Lions Code of Ethics.
We congratulate the following:
Mark Butler - a 23 year resident of Bolinas whose hard work and dedication over the past six years has provided a brand new, professionally designed skateboard park for the many four-wheeled enthusiasts in our community.

Mike Aitken - He'd rather get it done, than sit around and talk about it. And, over the years he has gotten more done than most. How fortunate for Bolinas that it reaps the benefits. Whether it is helping a person in need, or tapping his many skills to complete a project, or stepping forward as a community leader, the residents of Bolinas have benefited from his involvement. The Bolinas firehouse project, and the creation and successful operation of the Resource Recovery are the most recent projects of note.

Dr George Flynn - For more that forty years, he has cleaned-up and bandaged the banged and the bruised of Stinson Beach and beyond; he has helped deliver our children, provided advice and medical attention to our loved ones, and comforted the dying and the bereaved. No matter the race, religion, class, status, enemy, foe, stranger, human or animal; no matter the time of day, tired, in the middle of dinner or whatever else, if there is someone in need, and he can help, he will be there. Above the entrance to his home, there hangs a cleaver (a gift), and upon it is written, "Bones broken and mended. Vasectomies cheap. Night calls." This may sound funny, but if you knew the man, it just might be true. One thing that is certain: when George Flynn took the Hippocratic Oath, he meant it!

Carol Bennett Gilman - For more years than she can remember, this lifelong resident of Stinson Beach has been the cook for money raising events at the Stinson Beach Community Center. Be it Allied Arts, the annual Rummage Sale or any other, she has volunteered for kitchen duty. It has been stated that no matter what the event (big or small), or whether or not she has help, Carol can be depended on to do the job well, and always with a smile on her face.

To these outstanding individuals, whose voluntary efforts have contributed to the greater good of the community, we thank you!
