New West Marin Stage Schedule May Be Modified
By Don Deane
Grumbles and mumbles about the new West Marin Stage schedule may result in the restoration of the early morning run from Bolinas to east Marin on Wednesday and Friday mornings. The first bus leaving Bolinas was eliminated on those two days to allow for the Bolinas-Pt. Reyes route which is new. One of results was killing the commute run to Marin City for students and adults on those two days.
Sharmil Nelson of MV Incorporated, the new service provider for the West Marin Stage said last week, "We're getting feedback that the Pt. Reyes run isn't working because people have to wait until 10 a.m. to catch the bus. I'm also trying to get clear about what's going on with the commuters over the hill.
Fourth District Supervisor Steve Kinsey said on Friday, "The Wednesday and Friday early runs over the hill were eliminated to make the trip possible in the morning from Bolinas to Pt. Reyes. I am concerned about this. People seem to need the commute bus every day. Based on some new funding that has come from the state, I have asked the staff to put together a change that will allow for both runs to happen. The Wednesday and Friday early morning runs would be restored. To do both will require an addition driver and additional bus."
The West Marin Stage got a new schedule and a new contractor as of July 1st. It's still got some bugs.
