Dog Is My Copilot
By Barbara Lawrence

As she goes about her day, Muttisse does her job with grace and determination. She feels her job is very important. She eagerly runs for the car each morning because she knows the next opportunity to be copilot and assistant to West Marin Artist, Barbara Lawrence, is just around the corner. As Barbara's gray Quest rolls to a stop, Muttisse is ready for the job. Perhaps you have seen this. A car drives up to a stop light next to you and you glance over. If she is doing her job properly you will, if not laugh, at least smile in response to her dead pan greeting out the window. Ha! Gotcha! Barbara thinks as she smiles back. That dog can brighten anybody's day. A sweeter partner you cannot find. We all need a little cheering up these days, even if it's just for a second.
She loves her job in the studio as well. She greets people joyfully, with tail wagging and maybe a lick or two. Then she goes about the very important tasks of snoozing, in the sun if possible, chewing up her toys and getting treats, well deserved of course.
At the end of the day she is exhausted. Barbara has some other jobs in mind for this perky little pup, but Muttisse has not quite mastered the brush yet. We all think her time is coming, though. With practice and a little help from her tail. Stay tuned.
You can meet Muttisse at Barbara's Holiday Open Studio on December 3 & 4 and 10 & 11 from 11 to 5 p.m. at The Salami Factory Art Studio, 1599 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Fairfax 488-1436-Barbara Lawrence Design
