Simon Wiesenthal

The International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation extends its sympathy for the death of Mr. Simon Wiesenthal.
Mr. Wiesenthal's deeds have been an inspiration to many of us who dedicate our lives to educate the world about the Holocaust. We know that remembering the past is the only way to build a future.
Mr. Wiesenthal has played a role in the past in the quest for Raoul Wallenberg's fate. 60 years after being captured by the Soviet army, after having saved tens of thousands in Hungary during the Holocaust, Wallenberg's whereabouts remain unknown.
Continuing the important work of Mr. Wiesenthal and of many others, we will keep on working until Wallenberg is brought home. One of our latest initiatives is the campaign "100,000 names for 100,000 lives" with the aim of gathering one name for each person saved by Wallenberg and presenting a petition to President Putin and to Kofi Annan asking them to help us find Wallenberg's whereabouts.
We are convinced that Mr. Wiesenthal's legacy will live on and we are committed to continue to remember and remind the world about those individuals who were a ray of hope in the dark period of the Holocaust.
