Rewarding Traitors

To understand the value and meaning of what Mr. Mark Felt did which led to the unmasking of a wayward US president, one must only ask: what if we had another man like Mr. Felt in the FBI when the lies and disinformation were being hatched by the incumbent administration regarding the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Why did not one of those who were in the know, (and it appears that there were many) have the courage and sense of duty to come up with the truth? They may not have directly assisted the plotters in their endeavor to launch what we now all know was a betrayal of the people's trust, but having concealed the truth from us was as much as being a part of that sinister conspiracy.
If we had a "Deep Throat" in the FBI at the time when all our agencies involved in our national security and intelligence appeared to be taking a nap, he would have jolted them all to behave in accordance with their sworn duties and responsibilities and we would not have been embroiled in a senseless war that is now costing us the lives of our loved ones, as well as the squandering of the precious resources that belong to our future generations. The heads that should have rolled are still held high. Instead of getting rebuked for failing to measure up to their jobs, they are awarded medals and given undeserved promotions. And what have we done about this? Instead of holding the feet of our president to the fire, we gave him four more years to continue with his disdainful performance. And in the midst of all this, we are still debating whether Mr. Felt is a hero or a villain. With this sad mentality prevailing in the country, is it any wonder that we currently have the kind of government we have and that we do not seem to have the ability nor the will to live up to the honorable heritage left to us by our forefathers?
Until we can differentiate between villains and heroes, it is futile to expect a return to the virtues and values of our venerated Founding Fathers. We deserve the leadership that we have now and unless we wake up soon, we are definitely heading towards a truly bleak future.
