Fourth Annual "Dipsea Lite" Call For Volunteers And Sponsors
The dipsea hike/run Event Committee is looking for sponsors, new members and volunteers to assist in mounting the fourth annual dipsea hike/run scheduled for Saturday, July 23rd, 2005.
The dipsea hike/run, or "dipsea lite," is a community-based event benefiting Marin Breast Cancer Watch and honoring its founder, Annie Fox, a courageous trail runner, Marin County employee, and breast cancer awareness advocate who fought the disease until her untimely death at the age of 35. A spectacular climb for fun and fitness, hikers and runners begin at Old Mill Park in Mill Valley and make their way to a celebration at the Mountain Theater on Mount Tam. This non-competitive event should not be confused with the traditional Dipsea Race scheduled for June 12th.
Jazz For Sale will provide music and Mill Valley Massage will be offering complimentary massage at the finish. Members of the Tamalpa Running Club will provide technical assistance and on-course volunteers to aid the participants on event day. Sponsors, including Comcast, The Mechanics Bank, Mortgage Loan Specialists, Culligan, Hennessy Funds, Luna/ClifBar, Fleet Feet Sports, Noah's Bagels and Marin Brewing Company, provide promotional support, refreshments and prizes. Volunteers and participants can register online at www.breastcancerwatch.org or by calling 415-507-1949. New this year participants can create their own webpage to encourage individual sponsors!
All Proceeds from the fourth annual dipsea hike/run will benefit Marin Breast Cancer Watch, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding the causes of breast cancer through community participation in the research process.
