San Rafael, CA - On Tuesday, April 26, 2005, the Marin County West Nile Virus Task Force, a collaboration of agencies involved in WNV awareness and prevention, asked the Marin County Board of Supervisors to proclaim April 25 to May 1, 2005 as West Nile Virus and Mosquito and Vector Control Awareness Week, as has been proclaimed by the State of California.
Also as part of awareness activities this year, the Marin County WNV Task Force will be presenting a West Marin Community Town Hall, "West Nile Virus: Partnering for Prevention", on May 11, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. at the Point Reyes Dance Palace. This town hall will be facilitated by Supervisor Steve Kinsey and will cover topics such as WNV trends, human illness, and prevention and control measures, such as how to modify septic tank systems to reduce mosquito breeding.
