KQED Wants Home Movies About Coast

KQED, the PBS station in San Francisco, has just begun production on an hour-long documentary which looks at the issues facing California's coastline, such as development, beach erosion, beach access, seawalls, and the history of our coastline & activism. The documentary is tentatively airing on PBS in October or November, 2004. We are looking for home movies from the early 1900s until 1980, shot anywhere along California's coast, but especially in Pacifica, Solana Beach, Malibu, the Gaviota area, and/or Fort Bragg/Mendocino.

The movies can show people enjoying the beach, surfing or playing in the water, homes along the coast, or even scenic shots. We're also looking for footage of any protests of coastal development, support of the passage of the Coastal Act (Proposition 20) or the oil spills that occurred in the late 1960s and early 1970s. If the home movies are on film, we can have them transferred if we use them.

Please contact Associate Producer Sheraz Sadiq at (415)553-2856 or [email protected] if you have any such footage or can refer us to others who may have footage
