Open Space Policy Review
On February 25, 2003 the Marin County Board of Supervisors (acting at the Marin County Open Space District (MCOSD) Board of Directors) approved a $90,000. contract with Moore Iacofano Goltsman Inc. (MIG) of Berkeley to "conduct a community outreach effort associated with the Open Space District's Policy Review Initiative," with Supervisor Susan Adams objecting to the cost.
MIG is a national leader in evaluating, planning, and designing environments for people with special needs.  Its publications include: An Evaluation System for Building and Outdoor Settings and Universal Access to Outdoor Recreation: A Design Guide.
The consultant's project is estimated to take 10 months, with complete policy review and update within 18 months.  Surveys will be conducted both of Marin residents and visitors to the County "to test respondents' policy preferences."  MCOSD's acquisition manager, Ron Miska, stated the purpose of the review is the policies are 30 years old and we want to make them "less restrictive."
