Kamena Dumped! Not

Marin District Attorney Paula Kamena was sweating it a month ago as Dump the DA forces gathered steam and vitriolic energy to recall Marin's first female DA before the end of her first term. The underlying issue? The whacky and often ugly world of family court disputes, but the medical marijuana forced jumped on the bandwagon and made Kamen's policies on medical marijuana the issue. Twenty-thousand signed the recall petitions but only 6,000 voted for the dump. Retaining Kamena ran six to one in favor.

Bolinas Turns Its Beach Over To The Cops

By Staff

Bolinas-this fiercely independent and often eccentric community of aging hippies, the rich and famous, artists, craftspersons and just plain folks-has turned its beach over the to Sheriff's Department on weekends with a NO CAMPING decree courtesy of the Marin County Board of Supervisors and the Bolinas Community Public Utility District. Overnight camping isn't easy on the sand strip facing Bolinas Bay which often sees high tides making the beach vanish altogether. The impitus for the prohibition? Locals living along Brighton Ave. and Wharf Road tired of the partiers drinking beer and burning driftwood. There was talk of an advisory poll on the issue, but that didn't happen. How many Sheriff SUV's will be swept out to sea trying to enforce this one?
