March Dance Palace Events

14TH ANNUAL DANCE PALACE TRIVIA BEE
Test your knowledge of the significant to the mundane, in this 14th annual evening of wildly entertaining trivia. Topics for the Trivia Bee will include sports, television shows, movies, popular and classic literature, science, music, history, geography, and totally frivolous facts. Refreshments on sale to benefit the Dance Palace.
Saturday, March 7, 7 p.m. / spectators $12 general, $10 seniors, $5 teens and kids to benefit the Dance Palace; teams $100 advance registration


WORD FOR WORD PRESENTS MORE STORIES FROM TOBIAS WOLFF

Word for Word returns with a performance of More Stories from Tobias Wolff, three engrossing stories that combine acute observation with loving humanity. "Funny, revelatory, and moving." ANNUAL ST. PATRICK'S DAY FESTIVAL AND BARBECUE

The Annual Festival and Barbecue is held indoors, rain or shine. The famous barbecued chicken dinner includes a half chicken for adults, a quarter chicken for children, pasta, salad, roll, ice cream, and milk or coffee. Tickets for the dinner and the famous raffle (first prize $1,200, second prize $700, third prize $500) are available at the door. There are games, booths, homemade baked goodies, wine, beer, other refreshments, and lots of family fun. Come enjoy a great afternoon of good food and fun. It's a West Marin tradition - don't miss it! Sponsored by Sacred Heart Church.

GEOGRAPHY OF HOPE CONFERENCE LUNCHEON (Advanced Registration Required)

The 2nd annual Geography of Hope Conference will take place in Point Reyes Station March 20-22. The first conference, one of the most exceptional literary events ever held in northern California, was dedicated to Wallace Stegner. The 2009 conference will celebrate writing on farming and rural life. The Dance Palace will one of many sites where noted conference presenters will lunch with attendees.

BLUEGRASS & AMERICANA WITH WHISKEY PUPPY AND TENNESSEE STUDS

Whiskey Puppy plays boot-stomping, mule-slapping traditional bluegrass and old time music. Tennessee Studs, from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, delivers bluegrass and Americana to you straight from the heart with four voices and 64 strings.

BRASS MENAZERI BALKAN BRASS BAND
The Brass Menazeri is the Bay Area's premier Balkan Brass band, specializing in the high-energy, sometimes stretchy, always exciting music of Serbian Rom (Gypsy) brass bands, as well as the Greek/Macedonian border region. In the tradition of the great Rom brass bands, the band also exhibit influences from many neighboring and not-so-neighboring music traditions of the world.
