John Rohret, 66
John Rohret died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in Clearwater Florida where he has lived the past 10 years.
John was born August 31, 1942 in Iowa City. He graduated from Cosgrove High School and from The University of Iowa with a degree in Journalism. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany in the mid 1960s. John had a passion for music and played with a number of bands in the Iowa City area in the 70s. During much of his life John worked as a carpenter and lived in California before moving back to Iowa City to care for his parents in their later years. For the past 10 years John lived in Clearwater Florida so he could be near his daughter Yolanda and her children.
John is survived by his former wife Karin Rohret, daughter Yolanda and grandchildren Jacobe and Isaiah all of Clearwater, and son Mark (Beth) Rohret of Louisville KY. Sisters: Amelia Fisher of Elburn IL, Ruth McCullough of Atlanta GA. Brothers: Mike of St Louis MO, Matt of Bakersfield CA, and Bill of Las Vegas NV.
John is preceded in death by his parents George and Catherine Rohret.
There will be no funeral services or visitation. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
