Back in 2006 our Coastal Post editor, Don Deane, had the foresight to print for his readers in three consecutive monthly issues, beginning in August, the original essay on AIPAC by Professors John Mearsheinger* and Stephen Walt. Titled THE ISRAELI LOBBY the piece had appeared in the British press and, in 2006, on the website of the John F. Kennedy's School of Government, where in four months it received more than 275,000 downloads.
Since then the two authors published a book expanding on their research. On October 20th, 2007, the authors, after discussing their book, and answering questions from a crowded auditorium in San Francisco's Fairmont Hotel, expressed to me their thanks for Don Deane's courage in printing their original work. Few other US papers touched it.

The two authors conclusion is that for the past several decades... the centerpiece of US Middle East policy has been its relationship with Israel. The combination of unwavering support for Israel and the questionable effort to "spread democracy" throughout the region has inflamed the Arab and Islamic world and jeopardized not only US security but that of much of the entire Middle East.

This situation has no equal in American political history. Why has the US been willing to set aside its own security and that of many of its allies to advance the interests of another state? One might assume that the bond between the two countries was based on shared strategic interests or compelling moral imperatives, but neither explanation can account for the remarkable level of material and diplomatic support that the US provides Israel.

Instead, the thrust of US policy in the region derives almost entirely from domestic politics, and especially the activities of the 'Israel Lobby'. Other special-interest groups have, at times, managed to skew our foreign policy, but no lobby has managed to divert it, as far from our national interests while simultaneously using the media to convince Americans that US interests and Israel's-are essentially identical.

Since the October War in 1973, Washington has provided Israel with a level of support dwarfing that given to any other state. It has been the largest annual recipient of direct economic and military assistance since 1976, and is the largest recipient in total since World War II, to the tune of well over $140 billion (in 2004 dollars). Israel receives about $3 billion in direct assistance each year, worth about $500 a year for every Israeli. " This largesse is especially striking since Israel is now a wealthy industrial state." It is also the only recipient that does not have to account for how the aid is spent, which makes it virtually impossible for Washington to prevent the money from being used for purposes the US opposes, such as building illegal settlements on the West Bank and expanding the illegal wall... Israel is hardly the only country that spies on the US, but its willingness to spy on its principal patron casts further doubt on its strategic value. The destruction of our espionage ship, the USS Liberty by Israeli military during the 1967 War with the killing of many of its crew was intended to keep Washington from interfering with Israel's seizure of Syria's Golan Heights. American lives meant nothing to Israel's military machine.

Merscheimer and Walt also noted that early Zionists, lead by Menachem Begin, who organized the "Stern Gang," had relied on terrorist bombings in Palestine's market-places to drive the British from their Palestine Mandate, and that Yitzhak Shamir, a terrorist and later Prime Minister, had declared that: "Neither Jewish ethics nor Jewish tradition can disqualify terrorism as a means of combat."

It was the adoption of these fascist policies by Israel's Freedom Party, headed by Menachem Begin, which stimulated Professor Albert Einstein and other prominent American Jews to publish that full-page warning letter in the NY Times in 1948; I quote from the Einstein letter:

"Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our time is the emergence in the newly created State of Israel, of the Freedom Party... a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties. It was formed out of the membership and following of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi... This is the unmistakable stamp of a Fascist party for whom terrorism and misrepresentation are the means, and a "Leader State" is the goal.

Begin's Freedom Party, which (in modern slang) "morphed" into the Likud Party, clearly exhibited the fascist nature of Zionism. Like Germany under the Nazis, Israel has invaded and attempted to colonize its neighbors: Lebanon in 1982, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, the West Bank and Gaza in 1967. The false ideologies are surprisingly similar:

Hitler said the Teutonic Gods promised his people: "Lebensraum." The Zionists say Abraham's God promised the Jews "Eretz Israel." Both parties embrace "racial purity," the Jews as "God's Chosen" vs. the Nazi's "Pure Aryan Race" and both Hitler and Sharon, arising from democratic roots, found support in their country's military-industrial base.

One major difference stands out: The German people funded Hitler's expansionism, whereas it has been the US taxpayers who, to a great extent have, and are still paying for Israel's expansionism. Adolph Hitler never received complimentary press coverage in the US but President Bush has stated more than once, that Sharon is "a man of peace."

Mearsheimer and Walt note that AIPAC, a de facto agent for a foreign government, has a stranglehold on Congress, and that the Jewish lobbies are so well organized that one CNN executive remarked "he sometimes gets 6000 Jewish e-mail messages in a single day, complaining about a story." The authors also note that pro-Israel forces "have established a commanding presence at the American Enterprise Institute, the Brookings Institute, the Center for Security Policy, the Foreign Policy Research Institute, the Heritage Foundation, the Hudson Institute, the Institute for Foreign Policy Analysis and the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA). "These think tanks not only speak in the media, but their members lobby Congress on issues APIAC deems important for Israel."

The behavior of these Jewish lobbies, which support our dangerous parasite, Israel, has not changed through the years. Americans seem unaware that today over 80% of their representatives in Congress have AIPAC interns working on their staff, interns who are positioned to both monitor and interfere with telephone and e-mail communication from an unwary public. Israel's supporters have even hidden the identity of their PACs' (Political Action Committees) from Americans. Only four of their 91 PACs have names that even suggest any affiliation with Israel, Zionism, or even the Mideast.

Back in March 2002 McCarthyism reappeared on the Web as "Campus Watch." Organized by Zionist, and sometime professor, Daniel Pipes, student members of Hillel, the on-campus Jewish fraternities, were indoctrinated as "thought police" to report back to Pipe's headquarters in Washington any professors who made disparaging remarks about either Israel, the Zionist movement, or appeared to intimidate Jewish students. Jewish organizations then would pressure congressional Representatives from districts where a targeted professor was located. To warn that university's administrator that support from federal funding might be removed unless the accused professor was either chastised, or dismissed.

The massive invasion of Washington's political arena by AIPAC and other Jewish lobbies has produced the very situation, which our first president, George Washington, felt so strongly about preventing that he dedicated much of his farewell address to the issue. I quote: "The passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of a common interest where no common interest exists... It leads also to concessions to the favorite nation, of privileges denied others... exciting jealousy, ill will, and a disposition to retaliate in the parties from whom equal privileges are withheld. It gives to ambitious, corrupted or deluded citizens who devote themselves to the favorite nation, facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country." -President George Washington, 1796

AIPAC, our dangerous parasite never sleeps. Last October, writer and foul-speaking Zionist, David Horowitz, employing the campus network set up by Daniel Pipes, announced a hate campaign against the Muslim world. As reported on the Net: "During the week of October 22-26, 2007, right-wing and neo-conservative political forces led by the David Horowitz Freedom Center are calling for "Islamic-Fascism Awareness Week" events on campuses across the U.S. Horowitz speaks for an alliance of forces that work to maintain the war against Iraq, escalate the standoff with Iran into military conflict, and cement Israel's hold on the occupied Palestinian territories with ever- increasing violations of Palestinian human rights through a system of apartheid rule." (New Trend Magazine 18 Oct 2007)

This October an AIPAC subsidiary tried to tell their fellow Americans just what they could and couldn't read. The Jews campaigned in Ann Arbor Michigan to terminate the distribution contract their University of Michigan Press had with PLUTO PRESS, a small book-publishing company located in London, which had recently printed Professor Joel Kovel's book: "Overcoming Zionism" as well as "Married to a Stranger" by Palestinian author Ghada Karmi. Jews were determined to keep these books out of American's hands.

The University of Michigan Press "after receiving a series of complaining and threatening e-mails and letters from an ultra-Zionist group called "Stand With us" (an offshoot of Pipe's "Campus Watch"), withdrew Kovel's book, but then restored it to distribution after numerous protests by academics and scholars across the USA, including Professor Howard Zinn, who called on supporters of freedom of the press to protest this Jewish lobby's campaign.

To cancel distribution of a small British company would have the same effect as the Nazi's practice of book burning. Books, instead of being turned into ashes, would collect dust on Pluto's London shelves.

Zionists, who as Ex-president Carter recently reminded us, much prefer an apartheid state to democracy, never sleep. This October, Congresswoman Jane Harmon a strongly-Zionist Jew (CA-36 Los Angeles), and ranking Member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), managed to pass through Congress, at night with a "voice vote" her HR 1955: THE VIOLENT RADICCALIZATION AND HOMEGROWN TERRORISM PREVENTION ACT with a 404/6 majority. The Bill now rests in Senator Joseph Liebeman's Homeland Security Committee.

This most-dangerous Bill, if passed by the Senate will return us to the McCarthy period when free speech was in jeopardy, and Americans were encouraged to spy on one-another. Harmon's Bill would create a "Thought Police" committee to tour the country with public hearings wherein, instead of " Pinky's" (communist sympathizers) being indicted, any political activist as defined by Harman's thought police, will come under scrutiny.

The Bill is another attempt by our Jewish lobby to control the growing criticism of Israel's fascist behavior as she continues her genocidal control of the occupied Palestinians, and her nuclear threats against Iran.

The Senate version of Harman's bill (S1959)* is sponsored by Senator Susan M. Collins, a moderate Republican and Roman Catholic from Maine. Collin's bill has been returned to Neocon Michael Chertoff's Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
