"Ranch Guides" Needed To Share Love of Natural World With Visitors at Audubon's Bolinas Lagoon Preserve
By Paula Maxfield
January 4, 2006-Stinson Beach, CA - Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR), guardian of the natural environment with its mission of preservation, education and research, is seeking volunteers for its 2006 Ranch Guide Training Class at Bolinas Lagoon Preserve. ACR Ranch Guides are integral to the unique nature education and interpretation services offered by ACR and help distinguish ACR's Bolinas Lagoon Preserve from other nature areas.
Presented by staff biologists and long-time ACR Ranch Guides, the 2006 Ranch Guide training session begins in January 2006 and runs for seven consecutive Saturdays. After the training, participants volunteer to share their knowledge and appreciation for nature with visitors for four days during Bolinas Lagoon Preserve's 2006 Public Season. ACR's 2006 Public Season will run Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays, 10-4 p.m., from March 18 to July 16.
As a nature preserve and environmental education center, ACR's Bolinas Lagoon Preserve--renowned for its annual Great Blue Heron, Great Egret and Snowy Egret nesting season--offers visitors a unique experience in nature. Ranch Guides are stationed at various points of interest to answer questions about the natural history and wild inhabitants of the preserve.
ACR Ranch Guide Training costs $25 to cover materials. Scholarships are available by request.
ACR's Bolinas Lagoon Preserve is located 30 miles north of San Francisco on Highway 1, (3 miles north of Stinson Beach).
To register for ACR Ranch Guide training, please call 415-868-9244 or email acr@egret.org.
