MUTA Says No
Marin United Taxpayers Association (MUTA) urges a NO vote on San Rafael's Measure "S" half-cent transaction and use tax. MUTA's reasons for opposing the measure appear in the Oct. 19 Marin Independent Journal's Marin Voice column by Fielding Greaves.
MUTA recommended YES votes on state Propositions 75,76, 77, and 80, and says no on Propositions 78 and 79.
The taxpayer group's recommendations, released in its newsleter Oct. 19, include "no position" on state Propositions 73 (parental abortion notification) and 74 (teacher tenure), indicating a split vote by the MUTA board on those measures.
MUTA having not been approached by local advocates for or against any of the other local measures, opted to take no position on those measures.
