Don't Want Military Recruiters Knocking On your Door?
By Emmanuel Gibson
If you're a parent and have not had time to look at the No Child Left Behind Act then there is something you should know. Congress recently passed legislation which requires high schools to provide to military recruiters upon request, access to secondary school students and personal information (name, address, phone number, and age). Both the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and the National Defense Authorization Act For Fiscal Year 2002 reflect these requirements. However schools are required to notify parents in writing about the opportunity to opt Out. This form will be given with your child's registration papers.
