A Letter About Bush Terrorism In Haiti
(This letter was
addressed to Mainstreet Moms Opposing Bush (MMOB) and forwarded to the Coastal
Post: I am a mom and activist who is delighted to join your organization. I am
also a single mom who would be happy to write some letters. Besides all of the
intelligent reasons to not elect Bush that you have listed, I would like to add
an unknown situation kept neatly out of the mainstream press and American
public's awareness.
Since February, we (Haitkaah
Social Justice Center-my non profit organization) have
been working to investigate the truth of what our foreign policy is in Haiti. Haiti is a second home to our family and the birth home of 2
colleagues.
What we have documented, seen and heard from very credible sources is
horrific and something that all Americans, especially mothers would be appalled
by and would want to be aware of. What Bush is doing in our name and with our
tax dollars is criminal.
Our theory, which is quickly being proven, is that Bush (like his father)
wants and we heard, is building a base in Haiti since kidnapping the democratically elected President Aristide in Feb.
He did this under the guise of "keeping the peace" when an opposition
party and the old military threatened to overthrow this popular president who
supports the poorest.
In the 90's, Bush Sr. tried to strong-arm Aristide into giving him the Island of Latortue and Mole (Mt.) Nicola for a base to overlook the coast of Cuba but President Aristide wouldn't give it to him. So
in February, Bush Jr. orchestrated a coup d'etat which unleashed the old
military to kill 3,000 people including hundreds of poor teen age boys and
destroyed the first democratic government in the country's history.
What we have documented along with the National Lawyers Guild, the Haitian
Lawyers Leadership, Amnesty International and others, is incidences of the US
Marines murdering and abusing Haitian citizens (abusing children as young as 5
years); colluding with the military to hunt down, terrorize and falsely arrest
supporters of the President's party of the poor masses(Lavalas), including a
beloved 70 year old Haitian American singer who has been jailed since May
without legal representation.
It's a very hidden fact that President Aristide and a group of American and
European lawyers have filed law suits against the Bush administration. When has
that happened in the history of our country? Wouldn't the American public like
to hear of his terrorist activities abroad when he wants to please his father
as in Iraq?
Because the mainstream press is too "in bed" with the Bush
administration most won't report this. At this time a friend and colleague who
is a courageous American journalist, working with activists and some
Democratic members of Congress, has had 3 attempts on his life-one while the
Marines turned their backs.
I am telling you this so that MMOB will know, and also in hopes that you
will want to join us in getting this information out before November. Besides
saving thousands of children's lives, it will hurt Bush's chances of
re-election. I am attaching our report for you to take a look at. There are
many more if you are interested. At this time, we are talking with the
Rollingstone Magazine, People Magazine, the Village Voice and the Boston Globe
about doing features. Hopefully we will break this wide open.
