Teacher Wins Muir Beach Millennium Quilt

Muir Beach, CA -- The Muir Beach Quilters announced the winner of their "Millennium Quilt," which was raffled off on Sunday, April 1 in Muir Beach. "I am so humbled," said local schoolteacher Kathie Fischer who won the extraordinary "Millennium Quilt," which chronicles life at the beach and took over five years for the Muir Beach Quilters to complete. Sales of the $1 raffle tickets exceeded $5,000 and will go towards improvements to the Muir Beach Community Center.

The quilt, which won a Judge's Choice ribbon at the Marin Quilt and Needle Arts show last September at the Marin Civic Center, has been on display at California Savings and Loan at 71 Throckmorton Ave. in Mill Valley for the last three months. Posters and postcards of the quilt are available to the public by calling Kathy Sward at (415) 383-6762.
